Beansprout Consultancy was founded by Helen and Kevin for owner-managed businesses in construction, trades and built environment that need more than once-a-year accounts and an unexpected tax bill.
We have worked with hundreds of business owners who started with a good idea, and real drive and expertise. But the reality of being the boss of your own business is a tough one. It’s all too easy to get stuck dealing with problems instead of building the business you set out to create, and the more you grow, the harder the numbers become.
We found that our clients need more than accounting; they need someone who can help them see the wood for the trees, and navigate their way to a business that’s more profitable and less stressful, and gives them and their families the security for the future that they wanted in the beginning.
So we built a different kind of practice: we walk alongside you from where the business is now to where you want it to be, guided by your own definition of success and freedom. We are building a bridge together to reach that goal, one that respects your boundaries, your values and the things you will not compromise on. That means getting absolute clarity around the numbers, and it also means listening, mentoring and holding you accountable along the way.

Meet the Beansprout Consultancy Team
Helen Christopher FCA – BA (Hons), founder
Helen Christopher FCA is a Chartered Accountant and experienced COO/CFO. She has more than 30 years’ experience helping owner-managed businesses get on top of the numbers, sort out what is not working and put better systems in place.
Known for her forensic attention to detail and supportive, nurturing approach, she is passionate about mentoring business owners, demystifying finance, problem-solving, and removing the fear that often comes with managing money.
When she’s not guiding SMEs to business freedom, Helen enjoys travelling, and hosting friends, family and charity events after whipping up something delicious in the kitchen.
Kevin Abranches AFA MIPA – BA (Hons), founder
Kevin has spent 25 years helping small business owners make sense of their finances and plan properly for what comes next.
He takes time to understand the business, the people behind it and what they want to achieve. As a dyslexic thinker, Kevin is good at seeing the bigger picture and finding practical ways forward, including smart, fully compliant tax planning that can save money and take some of the pressure off.
When he’s not working his accounting magic, you’ll find him cycling long distances, perfecting his BBQ skills, or enjoying cheesy chips with his family.

James Davis - Operations and Business Improvement
James helps business owners improve the way their business runs day to day. With experience across people, process and profit, he looks for the parts of the business that are causing hold-ups, wasted time or too much reliance on the owner. He then helps them to develop simpler, more workable processes and put them in place, supporting owners to build stronger, more profitable businesses that can operate more effectively day to day.
Joanna Johnson - Bookkeeping and Xero Specialist
Joanna is a bookkeeping specialist and Xero Champion who takes real pride in getting the detail right. Having run her own business, she understands how important it is to have records you can rely on. She keeps accounts organised, up to date and accurate, so you know where things stand and nothing important gets missed. Outside of work, she enjoys keeping fit and spending time with her family and her two sons.
Beata Klejszta - Payroll
Beata is our payroll expert and keeps our payroll department running smoothly. With over 15 years of payroll experience, Beata is a self-confessed “payroll nerd” and spends her time ensuring your payroll is running smoothly, your staff are paid on time, and HMRC requirements are met. Beata removes the burden of all things payroll from our clients so that they can focus on what they do best: growing their businesses.
